Guys, I am really sorry I've been so quiet lately and not-fic-posting. I...my brain has been utterly shot since about Friday and I can't concentrate worth a damn.
But playing around doesn't take a lot of concentration! So here goes.
Give me a fandom, and a character from a different fandom, and I will tell you what I would have that character do in that crossover. I will try to do this with any fandom I've played in, but I will probably still be unpleasant to characters I dislike, and I cannot vouch for my ability to do a good job with large-cast fandoms that I never got heavily into (e.g., Bleach).

So uh
It's possible that I've just run into a quick description of Wild Adapter that got my attention a little.
So I ask you, because surely one of you fine people must know: how is Tokyopop's translation of it?
I really prefer to read manga from actual books instead of scans where possible, but I know that a lot of american publishers have a history of, uh, removing the good bits from manga titles, toning down the queerness of the language and censoring out explicit images. Can anybody tell me how this one stacks up in that regard? Is it worth the money?

See, there were a bunch of things I wanted to do today that involved me having use of both hands and both feet, and when there's crutches, you don't really have any of those things. So, have some music.
All three tracks are by Amadan (sorry to send you to MySpace, but their other website is under construction). They're Celt-punk (though they say they're "post-Celtic/post-punk," but I don't know what that means), and all three tracks here are more leaning toward traditional Celtic music (as you may recognize from the song titles). You can hear some of their less-traditional stuff at the website. They're also hailing from Portland, OR, so if you like what you hear, my West-Coast peoples, you could probably check them out fairly painlessly. But I've been listening to the Sons of Liberty CD for a week solid, and I do love it so. My three favorite tracks, and links are to YouSendIt:

Farfarello lounged on the park bench, stretching out his legs and leaning back so his head rested back far enough so that he could watch the sky.
It looked like rain.
The crinkle of a paper bag turned his attention to the left as an old woman sat on the adjacent bench.
“Beautiful day,” she said. Pigeons gathered around her and she scattered some seeds on the ground for them. “Are you hungry?”
Farfarello tilted his head to her.
“Not seeds, silly,” she said. She pulled out two sandwiches and handed one out to him.
He smiled and took it.

“You don’t think he’d like,” Schuldig shifted, “snap on the old bird, do you?”
“It’s a possibility,” Crawford said.
“You remember the balloon guy from last week? I ain’t cleaning that up. I’m still finding rubber in my hair. Then the ice cream guy the week before that,” Schuldig shook his head. “We gotta avoid the park.”
“We’ll only be here a couple more days,” Crawford said.
“Can I go get a sandwich too?”
“No.”
“But, I’m hungry!”
Crawford passed him a granola bar.
“Surveillance sucks,” Schuldig grumbled. “Farf gets all the good positions.”
“I wouldn’t say that,” Crawford smirked.

So, today, getting the mail, I totally fell off of my own yard (was looking behind myself when I approached the curb, and totally fell into the street). I rolled my ankle pretty good, and, as a result, I've got crutches and a brace and I am out of commission for the volleyball I was going to play tomorrow. Which makes me a little sad because I really do like the volleyball. This is my first time with an injury of this sort, and I am taking the forced immobility a little poorly.
So: a very low obligation meme to entertain me. You give me a character (or characters--up to a group of three together), and I tell you what historical AU I would put said character into. Character repeats are okay. Any of my fandoms are fair game.

In a city this large there are many with power. The lawmakers and enforcers try hard to keep the peace-to keep the city running in smooth and proper order. But there is another order in the city. One of honor and respect that promises protection of it's own. Protection that can be paid for in money, sex, or in blood. Most people fall somewhere in between, in the foggy gray between the light and the shadows trying to find their way. They can stay there in the grey, unnoticed and underfoot. Or they can try their luck choosing a side.

Happy birthday, threewalls! This...is not what I had in mind for posting today, originally, but the other thing wasn't cooperating fast enough and these guys would, so. I hope you like it. ^^;
Surface, Shinjiro/Akihiko in Trinity Soul continuity (so AU for both, basically), ~1800 words, suggestive on the m/m front but not explicit. Trinity Soul spoilers through about episode 15.
It's nearing midnight, and Akihiko is brewing another pot of coffee -- and hating himself for it; at least if it were tea he could tell himself the antioxidants made up for the caffeine -- when his phone buzzes.
He pulls it off his belt. "Sanada."
"Thought you'd still be awake."
Akihiko blinks, and sits down hard in one of the rickety chairs at his kitchen table. "Shinji," he says.
